Online Learners should:

  • access to a laptop/computer with working webcam, mic and speaker

What is this programme about?

 

During this 3-hour complimentary session, learners will be familiarized with online learning platforms and tools, with particular focus on Zoom and Canvas to respond to the new online learning paradigm.

The session is highly recommended especially for learners commencing or currently undertaking WSQ or CPD programmes with IAL.

 

What does it cover?

 

Learners will be able to:

  1. Be familiar with the basic functions of Zoom as a meeting host and participant to host an effective online synchronous session and participate or conduct virtual assessments
  2. Be familiar with Canvas and how to access course content, participate in quizzes and discussion threads and submit assignments
  3. Appreciate the differences between offline and online learning and gain pointers on how to be prepared to benefit fully from an online experience

 

Who is it suitable for?

 

  • IAL’s learners who are new to online meeting platforms and learning management system.

Darren Tjan (Mr)

Adult Educator | Institute for Adult Learning

Darren Tjan is a consultant, trainer and learning designer with over 20 years of experience working with individuals and organisations in the areas of learning, technology and performance.

 

He has consulted and trained a wide range of individuals from both the public and private sectors including Singapore Power, the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Airlines, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, Volvo CE, Nielsen+Partner, aAdvantage Consulting, amongst others. This has given him valuable insight into the challenges, needs and operational objectives of different organisations in different industries.

 

Darren has also designed and developed WDA accredited training, customised training for multinational companies, as well as eLearning courses. These span a wide range of subject areas, from Communication, Negotiation, Conflict Management and Emotional Competence, to Training Management, Strategic Business Planning, Supervision and Appraisal, as well as various industry-specific technical training. He has also undertaken courseware quality assurance audits for a leading CET Centre.

 

He has worked with IAL for almost a decade, and has facilitated modules in the ACTA, ACLP and DACE programmes, including modules to Develop Curriculum and Instruction for Adult Learning, Design and Develop eLearning, as well as Develop Assessment Tools.
