Over the years, IAL has actively engaged in the exchange of ideas, knowledge and the best practices of lifelong learning to improve the quality of Continuing Education and Training (CET) in Singapore and internationally. Below are our overseas engagements as we effectively share Training and Adult Education (TAE) knowledge and IAL’s pursuits at international platforms.

Event: PIAAC National Project Managers Meeting

Location: Athens, Greece

 

IAL participated in the meeting as representatives from Singapore conducting the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) Survey – an international survey that measures adults’ proficiency in key skills like literacy, numeracy and problem solving.

Event: Expert Meeting on Universities’ Contributions to Lifelong Learning

Location: Hamburg, Germany

 

IAL attended the meeting which aimed to develop a knowledge base on how and to what extent universities contribute to the implementation of lifelong learning as well as the development of lifelong learning as a research field.

Location: Rome, Italy

 

IAL engaged in a discussion about the findings from previous cycles of PIAAC Survey to promote their diffusion and apply them in addressing relevant policy issues.

Event: Experts’ Meeting on Lifelong Learning and the Future of Skills

Location: Turin, Italy

 

IAL took part in the knowledge-sharing forum which sought to reflect on the changing world of work, discuss the role of lifelong learning in addressing current challenges and develop solutions in the context of mega-trends.

IAL participated in an exchange of ideas, experiences and case studies which focused on developing and enhancing learning communities.

Event: 4th International Conference on Learning Cities

Location: Medellin, Columbia

 

IAL’s Executive Director, Prof Lee Wing On gave a plenary speech on “Monitoring Mechanism of Lifelong Learning in Singapore” at the conference – a platform to exchange and discuss effective lifelong learning policies and practices that support the development of inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities.

23 – 26 July 2019

Event: International Consultative Meeting on Lifelong Learning Policies

Location: Chengdu, China

 

IAL attended the meeting to review the draft manuscripts of the joint UNESCO’s Division for Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems (PLS) and UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) report on the principles and key policy implications of lifelong learning.

Event: International Conference on Strategic Planning in Education Development

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

 

 

IAL’s Executive Director, Prof Lee Wing On gave a speech on “Educational Strategic Development” which contributed towards the agenda of the conference in developing Vietnam’s educational development strategies for the next ten years.

Event: UNESCO 2019 Forum on Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

 

 

IAL’s Executive Director, Prof Lee Wing On, partook in the forum as an Expert Evaluator/Reviewer, to address how the cognitive, socio-emotional and behavioural dimensions of Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship are reflected in the pre-primary, primary and secondary education.

Event: International Expert Roundtable on Lifelong Learning

Location: Singapore

 

IAL’s Executive Director, Prof Lee Wing On, acted as a panel speaker at the symposium, while Principal Researcher of IAL, Mr Sheng Yee Zher, was a speaker at the roundtable session which focused on the development of frameworks to monitor and evaluate the implementation of lifelong learning in societies.

IAL’s Executive Director Prof Lee Wing On was invited to give a lecture on “From 21st Century Competences to Global Citizenship and Global Competences” by the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding in the Republic of Korea.
