Advisory and Updates on COVID-19

 

In view of the increasing trend of COVID-19 cases in Singapore, and the potential continued surge in cases over the coming weeks, IAL has decided to shift all training, assessment and coaching sessions online to protect our learners, adult educators and staff. 

From Monday, 27 September 2021, all scheduled training, assessment and coaching sessions will be conducted fully online, until further notice. This is applicable to the following programmes:

  • WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP)
  • WSQ Workplace Learning Facilitator (WLF)
  • WSQ Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP)
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programmes

More details on the latest changes to learning arrangements will be sent to all learners and adult educators via email. IAL will continue monitoring the evolving situation and provide timely updates via our email and web channels in the event of any changes. For more details, refer here.

Programme Administrative Information

 

The Terms & Conditions listed below are applicable for all IAL programmes. 

IAL reserves the right to make changes or modifications to these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice, as it deems appropriate.

Pre-Course Administration

  • All interested applicants must comply with the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL)’s entry requirements and application procedures, which may include the submission of supporting documents, attending a pre-enrolment screening, or both.

  • Applicants will be required to create an account in MyIAL. Please click here to download the Learner User Guide for step-by-step guidance and read the course details carefully before proceeding with registration.

  • For courses with a screening component, unsuccessful applicants will bear the applicable screening fee in cash (i.e. SFC cannot be used). All applications are subjected to review by IAL, and the decision is final.

  • The WSQ Workplace Learning Facilitator (WLF) course is only available for company-sponsored applicants because learners would need resources and support from their employer to use the worksite for conducting workplace learning and assessment activities. 

 

  • Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can enjoy SSG grants/subsidies only once for each of the WSQ courses.

  • Learners enrolled in WSQ courses are obliged to meet the attendance requirements and achieve the competencies. Otherwise, IAL reserves the right to recover the course grants/subsidies disbursed.

  1. The indicated fee payable (inclusive of GST) will cover the training sessions and the course assessment, and it will also take into account all eligible grants/subsidies.

Self-Sponsored Individuals

  • Please login to MyIAL to register for your preferred schedule.
  • If it is your first login, you would need to create an account by selecting ‘Applicant / Learner’ and click on ‘No Account?’ to register.
  • You will be prompted for course fee payment via eNets/credit card (VISA or MasterCard) and/or SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) at the end of the registration process.
  • The system will automatically cancel your enrollment if full payment (including SFC, if applicable) is not received by 11:59 pm (Singapore Time) on the same day you register. You will need to re-register for the course, subject to availability at the time of re-registration.

Company-Sponsored Individuals via reimbursement

  • The registration process will be the same as above for Self-sponsored individuals. You will pay for the course fee first, then be reimbursed by your company.
  • If you quit the company midway through your course, there will be no refund of course fees for the unconsumed modules.

                

  • If a learner withdraws midway from their course for any reason, there will be no refund for any unconsumed portion of the paid fees.
  • Learners who withdraw midway from their course should fill up the Withdrawal Request Form to unsubscribe from future courseware notifications and mass communication from IAL.

We place great importance on ensuring that learners get the full benefit from our courses here at IAL. Therefore, we expect learners to take responsibility for their learning journey.

  1. We strongly encourage full attendance for all classes, and SSG-funded courses require a minimum attendance of 75% per module.

  2. If a learner falls short of the 75% attendance requirement in a particular module, they will not be allowed to take assessments of that module.

  3. They may request a re-scheduling of training and/or assessment session(s). Terms and conditions with an applicable fee apply:




  4. Full module fee may apply when a learner is required to make up their attendance in a particular module, and the One-Time Re-scheduling option has been used during their course.

IAL reserves the right to cancel, postpone or make changes to any courses should unforeseen circumstances occur. Applicants will be duly notified and the full fees will be refunded, where applicable.  

  • Your privacy is important to us. Please take a moment to read this Privacy Policy so that you know and understand the purposes for which we collect, use and disclose your Personal Data. 

  • SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and/or IAL could review your video recordings for audit, quality assurance and grant administration purposes.

In-Course Administration

  • Learners are expected to have access to a safe and robust network connection and a laptop running on Windows Operating System 7 and above (or MAC OS system).
  • The laptop should have a pre-installed webcam or a headset with a USB webcam.
  • The entirety of each training/assessment session will be recorded, and the learners must turn on their webcam at all times for attendance purposes.

  • Learners’ faces in the video recordings must be fully visible (i.e. the entire face and not just the forehead/eyebrows).

  • Learners’ full names, as reflected in their NRICs, should be indicated in the video recordings.

All of IAL's courses include a substantial component of self-directed learning. As such, we expect learners to complete their preparation work and/or assignments independently before the scheduled classroom time.

  • Take note of, and observe all submission deadlines of assignments, which may include but not limited to written assignments (draft and final), video recording, self/peer assessment record, etc. Failure to do so may result in chargeable re-scheduling/re-assessment and/or a 'Not Yet Competent' assessment result for the module.
  • Final assignment must be submitted by the prescribed deadline before the scheduled assessment date; failing which you will be deemed to have forfeited your assessment attempt. You will be required to schedule a one-time re-assessment within 5 working days of the initial assessment date at a charge of S$160 (before GST).
  • Exceptional circumstances should be submitted to IAL with supporting documents for consideration, and upon review, IAL's decision will be final.

 

  1. If a learner is deemed 'Not-Yet-Competent (NYC)', they can request a one-time Re-Assessment within 5 working days from the date of the last assessment.

  2. Applicable Re-assessment fee per module:



  3. The learning content of each module is generally built upon the earlier ones; hence, except for ACLP M2, the learner may not take assessment of the subsequent module until they are deemed ‘competent’ in the current one.

  4. The learner cannot attend subsequent module(s) with two (2) outstanding assessments.

  5. If no request is made, the learner would be deemed to have dropped out of the course. Full fees without funding will apply when they wish to re-enrol into the same course in the future.

  • You may submit an Appeal Form here.
  • Upon Committee Review, IAL's decision will be final.
  1. Course deferment applies to a one-time postponement of study for at least six months or more.

  2. A learner may submit a course deferment application if they cannot complete the full qualification due to reasons beyond their control, with a non-refundable admin fee of S$60.00 (before GST). 

  3. The onus of supporting documents is on the applicant. Deferment applications with invalid, insufficient or no supporting documents will be rejected. Upon review, IAL's decision will be final.

  4. Once the application is approved, the learner may rejoin the course within ONE YEAR from the Deferment Approval Date. The remaining modules must be completed within one year from the Deferment Approval Date or by the original candidature end date, whichever is later.

     

  5. Full fees without funding will apply if the learner wishes to re-enrol the same course past the one-year deferment period.

The maximum candidature period refers to the total duration that learners can be given to complete a course. Failing which, their candidature will be terminated, and full fees without funding will apply if they wish to re-enrol the same course:

At IAL, we are committed to creating a positive learning environment that encourages active learning.

  • You may send in your feedback via the Module Evaluation, which occurs at the end of each module.
  • Serious misconduct allegations against a Trainer/Assessor/Coach or staff warrant an investigation that may lead to the appropriate counselling and/or disciplinary action against the accused.
  • Upon the outcome, IAL's decision will be final.

IAL reserves the right to take disciplinary action against academic dishonesty (including but not limited to the act of plagiarism and/or collusion) and/or disruptive learner's behaviour, leading to expulsion from the programme without refund of course fees when required.

Post-Course Administration

All WSQ certificates are issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) through MyskillsFuture Portal. Your SOAs, transcript or full qualification will be available 4 to 6 weeks upon the completion of the module or final assessment.

Notifications of e-Certificates (e-Certs) are also available via the MySkillsFuture mobile App.

Singaporeans and permanent residents can access/download the WSQ e-Certs upon logging in to the MySkillsFuture portal via SingPass and following the steps below:

  • Go to the MySkillsFuture portal
  • Click the SingPass icon and log in via SingPass
  • Go to Skills Passport > click on Certificates to view WSQ e-Certs records
  • Select trainee's WSQ e-Certs and click on "Download e-Certs"

Foreign trainees could follow the steps below:

  • Go to the MySkillsFuture portal
  • Go to 'Digital Services'.
  • Under 'Individuals', click 'Download Certificates'.
  • Click 'No Portal ID'.
  • Enter the relevant information to retrieve your certificates.

  • SSG will phase out the SkillsFuture Qualification Award, as it has met its objective of encouraging take-up of Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) full qualifications over time.
  • Eligible Singapore Citizens who wish to apply for the award should complete their WSQ qualifications by 31 December 2022.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

  • Learners who do not meet the requirements for English Language proficiencies as required by the respective courses need to take the Workplace Literacy (WPL) – Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and secure the ES WSQ WPL qualification for listening and speaking reading and writing modalities. Please click here for more information.

  • You may also provide other documented evidence of your proficiency in English or be required to attend an interview with IAL to ascertain your suitability for the programme.

You may view and download your receipt(s) or invoice(s) under the Payment Tab in MyIAL.

Training, coaching and assessment sessions can be held online and/or in IAL training rooms, subject to the Advisory and Updates on COVID-19.
