What is this programme about?

Online training and education is a growing field, but comes with the challenge of keeping learners engaged and interested. The human brain has evolved to look for real faces in a crowd, analyse expressions and tone, and evolve accordingly. This innate neurological process is less effective in virtual spaces, and can result in a disconnect that derails even the best structured learning presentations. It can be difficult for trainers to know whether their learners are absorbing the content and material, and many online learners end up suffering from the phenomenon known as ‘Zoom fatigue’. Adult educators who can build rapport, encourage collaboration, and foster online connections will be able to stand apart from others and build more lasting relationships with their learners.

Learn how to master a range of online presentation skills that bridge the gap between facilitators and learners, and how to deliver the right learning programme for your audiences. Underpinned by Mayer’s Theory of Multimedia Learning, these skills include non-verbal elements such as presentations, environment, camera skills, and equipment. They also cover how to use your voice more effectively with better enunciation to overcome the barriers and pitfalls of online learning when training individuals who are physically distant from one another.

This full-day learner-focused, collaborative workshop uses a scientifically sound learning by doing approach that builds participants’ confidence quickly, and helps put concepts into immediate practice by using ‘learn like you’ll teach’ techniques. With collaborative activities, practical applications, custom-built tools, videos, and games, you will learn how to craft a presentation that educates and entertains, pace yourself, and incorporate science and research backed techniques to hold your learners’ attention. You will delve into the Learning Sciences to understand how technology affects attention and responsiveness, and work through the step-by-step process of using a Learning Delivery Blueprint™ that guides your preparation and delivery process. This workshop includes access to Jessica Dang’s Technology & The Learning Brain and Emotions & Learning videos and resources, to support your journey towards delivering powerful and memorable learning sessions like a pro.
