What is this programme about?

"Sage on the stage," the one who holds the knowledge, and transmits to the students, who simply memorize and later regurgitate - often without even thinking about it. An educator’s role today has evolved from a traditional ‘lecture-style’ into ‘facilitating’ the learning process, transforming passive learners into active learners instantaneously. This workshop teaches the participants to 'read' and 'respond' to impromptu situations of learners with different behavioural profiles. It will also share some common tips for trainers & facilitators on how to manage learners effectively when the 4 different profiles are demonstrated (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Compliance). It does not cover the methods of online or classroom facilitation where lesson plans have already built-in all necessary instructional methods.

This 3-hour workshop will enable you to gain insights into your self-awareness through an assessment tool on:

  • the way you deal with problems, assert yourself and control situations
  • the way you deal with people, the way you communicate and relate to others
  • your temperament - patience, persistence, and thoughtfulness
  • how you approach and organize your activity, procedures and responsibilities

What does it cover?

By the end of the workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Improve relationship with learners by identifying and responding to their different behavioural styles during facilitation (synchronous/classroom setting)
  • Engage learners with the preferred communication methods
  • Prioritising learning needs where necessary

Who is it suitable for?

  • Adult Education: Individuals such as Adult Educators / Trainers / Lecturers / Learners who will be attending the Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance (ACLP) M1: Facilitate Learning Experiences for Adult Learners and ACLP graduates looking to deepen their proficiency towards a more learner-centric facilitation skills
