Adult Education Professionalisation (AEP)

What is AEP?

The Adult Education Professionalisation (AEP) initiative is a step forward in creating a strong, dynamic and forward-looking Adult Education profession in Singapore. AEP aims to advance the professional standards and identity of Adult Educators as professionals recognised for both pedagogical and professional excellence.

To raise the quality and professionalism of the Training and Adult Education sector, it is important that we enable Adult Educators to continue to deepen their professional skills, and to be recognised for their mastery of skills. This is particularly so, in view of the crucial role that Adult Educators play in supporting the national SkillsFuture movement to impart knowledge and skills to our workforce.

AEP recognition can only be attained when an applicant meets the minimum number of Skills Badges:
  • Associate Adult Educator (AAE) Level - 4 skills badges across 2 skills categories
  • Specialist Adult Educator (SAE) Level - 6 skills badges across 3 skills categories

How Does It Work?

AEP confers professional recognition to Adult Educators. Participation in AEP is voluntary and Adult Educators who meet the entry requirements will be recognised as an Associate Adult Educator (AAE) or Specialist Adult Educator (SAE), depending on their skills mastery and area of specialisation. The highest recognition will be that of an Adult Education Fellow (AEF), which is invitation-based or by nomination only, based on the Adult Educator’s achievements and contributions.

Adult Education Fellow (AEF)
Made significant contributions in Training and Adult Education fields of practice, and appointed by nomination and invitation only.

Specialist Adult Educator (SAE)
Attained skills mastery in area of specialisation.

Associate Adult Educator (AAE)
