About The Institute

The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) is an autonomous institute of SUSS. As the National Centre of Excellence for Adult Learning, IAL seeks to raise the quality of Training and Adult Education (TAE) in Singapore through continuous education, and in collaboration with Institutes for Higher Learning and training providers. IAL conducts research to inform policy and practice in continuous education, and facilitate the translation of such research into methods, resources, and tools for adoption and scaling across the TAE ecosystem. It also supports the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) network through the NACE@IAL, by advancing the theory and practice of workplace learning, and drives innovation and technology for the TAE sector.

IAL launched its first five-year strategic roadmap in 2020 with the objective of 'Always Advancing' to meet the evolving needs of the dynamic workforce and build a future-ready TAE sector.

Leadership

As an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences, IAL is governed by an independent council, which sets the strategic direction for the institute. Get to know IAL Council, Our Executive Director and Our Management team.
