JobTech and Institute for Adult Learning Launch Career Agility Profiling Tool to Help the Workforce Navigate a Shifting Job Market

Media Release
JobTech, a leading AI-powered talent development platform, and the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), Singapore University of Social Sciences, have collaborated to develop the new Career Agility Profile (CAP) tool to help individuals assess and enhance their ability to adapt to rapid technological advancements, AI-driven transformations and economic shifts.

As industries evolve, "career agility" — defined as an individual's ability to adapt to professional challenges — has become a vital indicator of long-term employability and career resilience. Through a bespoke AI-driven algorithm, CAP maps users’ employment vulnerability archetypes and assesses their career and skills resilience against evolving labour market factors. CAP evaluates the users’ skills relevancy to current skill trends, enabling them to better understand their employability and job competitiveness. It provides actionable insights, including recommendations on areas of skills development, recommends courses, and provides guidance on potential career options in an increasingly volatile job environment.

Designed for working professionals, job seekers and career advisors, the tool helps users navigate an evolving labour market and apply for jobs directly through the platform. Together, these features help users strengthen their career adaptability and build greater resilience in an evolving job market. For career advisory professionals, CAP serves as a complementary tool to streamline their work process, enabling them to serve more clients while enhancing effective guidance.

An AI-Driven Algorithm to Career Agility, Backed by Research

CAP leverages on a robust methodology driven by a bespoke AI-driven algorithm that identifies one’s skills and career resilience against evolving labour market factors such as:
i) Skills Benchmarking: Individual profiles are measured against leading market indicators and emerging trends;
ii) Demographics & Stability: Analysis of individual risk factors and job stability; and
iii) National Outlook: Integration of employment and manpower data from various Government Ministries and Agencies.

Understanding the Four Career Resilience Archetypes

CAP identifies research-based career resilience archetypes that reflect individuals’ personal, social and career resources, as well as potential resource gaps. Based on IAL’s Employment Vulnerability Study conducted in 2019, individuals are categorised into four distinct archetypes, each with unique strengths and challenges. There is no single archetype that is seen as ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ as it could be the preferred choices or circumstances at a particular stage of life.

Archetype Characteristics Primary Strength Main Challenge
The Achiever Goal-oriented and driven. Clear sense of purpose and proactive skill-building. Potential difficulty with unexpected environmental shifts but strong ability to navigate these challenges through career self-management and keeping their skillsets up to date.
The Drifter Placid in career goals. Strong skillset in demand. Lack proactive career self-management and may fail to reach own highest potential. May be vulnerable to job loss if there are environmental shifts that result in poor matching of skillset with job demands.
The Unstable Have skillset that is vulnerable to environmental shifts. Strong vocational identity and clear sense of career. Lack skills for better career adaptability. Vulnerable to job loss if there are environmental shifts that result in poor matching of skillset with job demands.
The Precarious Highly vulnerable. May be able to find jobs that meet some needs but may not offer career progression or much career satisfaction in the long term. High job insecurity, poor job satisfaction and limited career advancement.
