This session was designed for organisations seeking to strengthen workforce capability through intentional and strategic learning design.
Led by Clement Ng and Ivan Lee from the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), the session engaged working professionals in a structured exploration of how workplace learning and learning innovation can directly support organisational performance and long-term business outcomes.
Participants were guided through a diagnostic approach to workforce challenges, using the People–Process–Platform framework to surface root causes behind performance gaps. Through first-principles thinking, organisations were encouraged to move beyond surface-level training solutions and prioritise interventions that address underlying structural and design issues.
Key insights shared:
-
Training alone cannot resolve structural or systemic challenges.
-
Effective workforce transformation starts with clear diagnosis and purposeful design.
-
Learning solutions must be aligned to organisational realities, with people at the centre.
Delivered as part of SkillsFuture Festival 2025, the session provided a platform for organisations to reflect on how they approach workforce development—shifting the conversation from whether to transform, to how transformation can be approached strategically and sustainably.
