This section lists the resources and useful information for IAL learners to stay connected and updated throughout their learning journey
1. e-Attendance
From 1 October 2023, Singaporean Citizens/Permanent Residents learners who are attending SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)'s funded courses must take their attendance digitally via the Singpass App for attendance-taking for both physical classroom and synchronous e-learning courses.
For more details, refer to "Re-scheduling" under 'Pre-Course Administration' below.
MyIAL e-Services
Learners can manage their programmes and assessments through MyIAL e-services, with access to a personalised inbox, training attendance, assessment results and transaction history.
Programme Administrative Information
The Terms & Conditions listed below are applicable for all IAL programmes. IAL reserves the right to make changes or modifications to these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice, as it deems appropriate.

All interested applicants must comply with the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL)’s entry requirements and application procedures, which may include the submission of supporting documents, attending a pre-enrolment screening, or both.

Applicants will be required to create an account in MyIAL portal. Please click here to download the Learner User Guide for step-by-step guidance and read the course details carefully before proceeding with registration.

For courses with a screening component, unsuccessful applicants will bear the application fee in cash (i.e., SkillsFuture Credit cannot be used). All applications are subjected to review. IAL’s decision is final.

Suitable devices such as laptops are required for both classroom and online sessions.

Please note that completion of application does not guarantee enrolment. Applicants will be assessed on the minimum requirement of the programmes.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements or fail to submit the required documents will be withdrawn from the programme and notified two weeks before the course commencement date.

Successful applicants will receive a course confirmation email containing administrative information two weeks before the programme commencement date.

With effect from 1 August 2022, a one-time non-refundable Application Fee of S$65.40 (after GST) will apply to all applications for WSQ courses.

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can enjoy SSG grants/subsidies only once for each of the WSQ courses.

Learners enrolled in WSQ courses are obliged to meet the attendance requirements and achieve the competencies. Otherwise, IAL reserves the right to recover the course grants/subsidies disbursed.

The indicated fee payable (after GST) will cover the training sessions and the course assessment, and it will also take into account all eligible grants/subsidies.

Programme fees are subjected to prevailing GST rates at the time of payment.

Enrol for the preferred courses and schedules via MyIAL account.
- The enrollment will be cancelled automatically if full payment (including SFC, if applicable) is not received by 11:59 pm (Singapore Time) on the same day of registration. Re-registration is required for the course, subject to availability at the time of re-registration.
- Course application fee is non-refundable.
To initiate the refund process, learners must submit the Withdrawal Request Form here for refund request to be reviewed for approval.

Learners will be eligible for a refund if the Withdrawal Request is submitted:
- At least 10 working days before course commencement - 100% refund of paid course fees
-
Less than 10 working days before course commencement - 50% refund of paid course fees
-
Refund does not apply to learners who:
- Are absent from class without prior notification
-
Requested for withdrawal upon or after course commencement
- Submitted any re-scheduling or deferment request for the course

Withdraw midway from the course
-
To initiate the refund process, learners must submit the Withdrawal Request Form here for refund request to be reviewed for approval.

Subsequently, learners will be:
- Contacted within 3 working days for further instructions
-
Unsubscribed from future courseware notifications and communication from the course upon successful withdrawal, eligible refund for fees paid by SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) or PSEA will be reinstated to the learner's SFC or PSEA account. Any additional amount to be refunded will be made via GIRO.
- Full attendance is encouraged for all learners to maximise their learning.
- Absence from any training or assessment session without prior notification OR an approved rescheduling arrangement will be treated as a No-Show.
- IAL requires a minimum attendance of 75% per module for learners to meet assessment eligibility.
- Learners who do not meet the minimum attendance requirement and/or discontinue attendance will be deemed as not having completed the course. Learners who fail to meet the course completion criteria may not be eligible for course funding, where applicable.
- Learners who wish to re‑enrol in the same course or module will be required to Re-module, paying the application fee and full course fees without funding or subsidies.

Learners are required to achieve a minimum attendance of 75% per module to be eligible for assessment. If they are unable to meet this requirement or have missed their assigned assessment session, learners must submit a rescheduling request.
- Learners with approved rescheduling of training are required to resume and complete the affected module within three (3) months from the date of request submission.
- Learners with approved rescheduling of assessment are required to complete the assessment within one (1) month from the original assessment date.
- Learners with approved rescheduling who do not complete the training and/or assessment within the stipulated timelines will be regarded as not having completed the course, and the Attendance and No‑Show Policy will apply.
Note: The Institute reserves the right to amend this policy from time to time without prior notice.
- IAL reserves the right to cancel, postpone or make changes to any courses should unforeseen circumstances occur. Learners will be duly notified. Full fees will be refunded where applicable.

No training and assessment video recording(s) would be made available for public viewing as they include the learners' personal data.

Only SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and IAL may review the video recordings for audit, quality assurance and grant administration purposes.
Device Usage

Learners should access the online session(s) and content(s) using suitable devices, such as a computer or laptop running on Windows Operating System 7 and above (or MAC OS system), a webcam and a headset with a stable internet connection.

Mobile phone usage is disallowed as the primary device for attending online classes. It can be used for supplementary purposes.
Learning Environment

The learning environment should be free from distractions, noise, and interruptions. Learners should refrain from engaging in any non-course-related activities during online sessions.

Learners are required to participate in all activities, discussions, and assessments assigned during the course duration.
Video Presence
-
Every training and assessment session(s) will be recorded, and the webcam must be always turned on.
-
Learners’ faces must be fully visible (i.e., the entire face, not just the forehead and eyebrows).
-
Full name as per NRIC must be reflected throughout the session(s).
Video Recordings
-
No training and assessment video recording(s) would be released for public viewing due to learners’ data and privacy.
-
Only SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and IAL could review the video recordings for audit, quality assurance and grant administration purposes.
-
All courses provided by IAL encompass a significant element of self-directed learning. Learners are expected to independently complete their preparatory work and assignments prior to the designated classroom sessions.

Please adhere to all assignment submission deadlines, which may include, but are not limited to, written assignments (both draft and final versions), video recordings, and self/peer assessment records. Failure to comply with deadlines may result in rescheduling or re-assessment fees and/or a 'Not Yet Competent' assessment result for the module.

The final assignment must be submitted by the specified deadline prior to the scheduled assessment date; Failing which, you will be deemed to have forfeited your assessment attempt. In such cases, you will be required to schedule a one-time re-assessment within 5 working days of the initial assessment date at a fee of S$174.40 (inclusive of GST).

For re-assessment, the final assignment must be submitted according to the deadline provided; failing which, the re-assessment attempt shall be deemed to be forfeited.

Any exceptional circumstances should be submitted to IAL with supporting documents for consideration. Upon review, IAL's decision will be final.
- Learners accorded with the 'Not-Yet-Competent' (NYC) outcome can submit a one-time re-assessment request within 5 working days from the original assessment date.
- If no request is submitted within the stipulated timeline, learners will need to Re-module, paying the application fees and full course fees without funding or subsidies, should they wish to complete the same module in future.
- The re-assessment must be completed within one (1) month from the original assessment date.
- Assignment must be submitted by the prescribed deadline before the scheduled re-assessment date. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the re-assessment attempt.
- Learners with two (2) outstanding module assessments will not be permitted to attend subsequent module(s) until at least one of the outstanding assessments has been completed.

Retaking a Module

Learners who repeat the module (Re-module) must attend the training sessions again before attempting the assessment.

- A non-refundable Appeal Fee of S$65.40 (after GST) will apply to each appeal against the ‘Not-Yet-Competent (NYC)’ status awarded.

- The outcome of the Assessment Result Appeal may take approximately four weeks from the date of appeal. The decision of the IAL Review Committee is final.

The candidature period refers to the total duration that learners can be given to complete a programme. Failing this, their candidature will be terminated, and full fees without funding will apply if they wish to re-enrol in the same programme.

IAL reserves the right to take disciplinary action against academic dishonesty (including but not limited to the act of plagiarism and/or collusion) and/or disruptive learner's behaviour, leading to expulsion from the programme without refund of course fees when required.

- Serious allegations of misconduct against a Trainer, Assessor, or staff member will be thoroughly investigated. Depending on the findings, appropriate counseling or disciplinary actions may be initiated against the accused individual. IAL decision regarding any such disciplinary measures is final.
Definition of Staff Abuse:
- Staff abuse encompasses any behaviour, action, or communication that prevents our staff from carrying out their responsibilities, is disrespectful, or harassing. This includes but is not limited to, physical aggression, verbal abuse, personal attacks, threats, excessive and repetitive phone calls, and incessant demands for immediate responses.

IAL recognises the importance of fostering positive interactions between staff and learners. However, in cases where the line is crossed and staff members are subjected to repeated abusive or harassing behaviour, IALwill undertake appropriate action(s) to ensure staff’s safety and well-being.
- If a learner engages in behaviours that constitute staff abuse, IAL reserves the right to disengage from further communication with and terminate the provision of all services without further notice to that individual. This decision will be made after careful assessment and consideration of the situation to protect the staff member(s) involved and, in fairness, the other individual involved.
- Learners are required to bring a laptop that fulfils the below requirements:
- Can connect to WIFI
- Runs on Windows Operating System 7 and above or MAC OS system
- Installed Microsoft Office for in-class coursework and activities
- We seek your understanding that in-class technical support will be limited to devices that meet the above requirements

Learners who have attended Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) training module(s) and attained ‘Competency’ for the module(s) will receive electronic certificate(s), e-Certs, issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
From 01 July 2024, all WSQ e-Certs (Statement of Attainment (SOA), Full Qualification and Transcript) issued by SSG will only be available in OpenCerts e-Certs format.
Learners will need to access and retrieve their WSQ e-Certs via SSG’s MySkillsFuture portal. IAL cannot retrieve WSQ e-Certs on learners’ behalf through OpenCerts platform.
Singaporeans and permanent residents can access their WSQ e-Certs following the steps below:

Please note the submission period for your SFC claim via MySkillsFuture needs to be within 60 days before the course start date (date inclusive). If your course start date is more than 60 days from the date of SFC application, the SSG-SFC portal would reject your application. In this case, you would need to pay the full course fees at the end of your course application.
