Achievements
Through this project with NACE@IAL and our Certified Workplace Learning Specialist (CWLS), my team and I were able to achieve the following in our workplace transformation project:- Successful identification of skills gaps among TCL’ s trainers.
- Effective usage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safe and confident handling of common landscape equipment.
- Reduction of skills gaps as TCL trainers are now able to conduct their own trainings effectively and confidently.
"The workplace transformation journey has been fruitful thus far. There are details to discover and iron out as the journey proceeds. What’ s next for the team is to gather the learning points and evaluate what can be better improved moving forward."
- Ms. Jodell Soh, Project Surveyor
"The project has been beneficial, allowing our trainers to be able to impart and share their knowledge with one another. I am heartened to see that our trainers are participative, responsive and positive to the workplace transformation project."
- Ms. Nur Ashikin Binte Othman, General Manager, Operations
Challenges
Prior to the project with NACE@IAL and our Learning Specialist, our trainers encountered difficulty when instructing teaching and facilitating. This may be attributed to the lack of confidence and skills to do so. It became evident to us that workplace learning interventions had to be put in place to bridge the knowledge and performance gaps of our trainers, in order to raise their confidence and upgrade their skillsetsInterventions
Noticing these performance gaps, we worked with IAL’ s Certified Workplace Learning Specialist (CWLS) to design a learning solution that would competently upskill our trainers by:- Identifying the skills gaps of trainers through needs analysis and determining the type of training to be conducted.
- Co-creating the relevant landscape training course and course content.
- Conducting livedemonstration in guiding TCL trainers on venue selection, content preparation, training plan.
- Providing opportunities to TCL trainers to take charge of subsequent training with CWLS sharing feedback.
- Evaluating the project and summarising the findings and recommendations for areas of improvement
