What Is This Session About?

In the evolving Training and Adult Education (TAE) landscape, understanding the core principles of how adults learn is the first step towards effective delivery. This practical one-day workshop introduces professionals to the fundamental tools and strategies necessary for engaging diverse learners through a structured 'theory-to-practice' methodology.

Building on foundational andragogical principles, such as Knowles’ theory, participants will explore how motivation and life experience shape the adult learner’s journey. You will gain practical techniques for creating learner-centric experiences, applying instructional design frameworks—including Biggs’ Constructive Alignment and Gagne’s 9 Events—to accommodate diverse learner profiles. The session culminates in a hands-on design challenge where you will synthesise these frameworks into a cohesive 'Lesson Segment Blueprint'. This workshop provides essential skills that participants can immediately apply to their professional context, building the confidence needed to design inclusive, interactive, and high-impact learning environments.
