What Is This Session About?

The art of facilitation with the Focused Conversation Method is about facilitating shifts and developing strategies to create extraordinary breakthroughs with groups, maximising the effectiveness of planned interventions. It equips you with process tools to craft compelling conversations, hence taking you to the next level of mastery to engage and empower groups both large and small, in ways that significantly increase the likelihood of transformation.

The Technology of Participation (ToP) Focused Conversation Method is a guided discussion process that effectively guides a group on a journey from a big-picture perspective to in-depth focus, from the situation to the resolution or action. This course aims to elevate your facilitation excellence through transformative conversation, unleashing the power of participation through the Focused Conversation Method. The Focused Conversation Method enables you to tap into the collective wisdom of the group using a 4-level process. It

  • establishes facts and data by asking questions that appeal to the senses.

  • explores the initial reactions to the data by asking questions that resonate emotionally.

  • asks for critical thinking about the experience or issue by posing questions that appeal to logic.

  • challenges the group to determine their relationship and response to the topic by asking questions that lead to future resolution and actions

What Does The Session Cover?

At the end of this session, participants will be able to take-away the following:

  1. Explain the principles underpinning the Focused Conversation Method and the human process of dialogue
  2. Design a structured Focused Conversation with clear rational, and experiential objectives for a workplace context.
  3. Apply the four levels of the Focused Conversation process (Objective, Reflective, Interpretive, Decisional) to guide group thinking and participation.
