What Is This Session About?

This session focuses on transforming the way you design learning by emphasising what matters most: improving performance on the job. In this practical, hands-on workshop, you will explore evidence-based principles that strengthen the connection between training and real workplace outcomes.

Through guided activities and collaborative design, you will learn to clarify the business purpose of a learning initiative, create engaging learning experiences, and support learners before, during, and after a training event. The session emphasises designing training that fits naturally into the flow of work, encourages meaningful practice, and reinforces new behaviours over time.

Whether you are refining your instructional design skills or rethinking your overall learning strategy, you will leave with practical tools to create learning solutions that are intentional, sustainable, and capable of driving measurable impact.

What Does The Session Cover?

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  1. Define clear performance and business outcomes by aligning learning initiatives with organisational priorities and stakeholder expectations.

  2. Design an end-to-end learning experience that incorporates pre-learning, practice, and post-learning reinforcement to support the application

  3. Apply instructional strategies that promote active learning and support the transfer of skills to the workplace.

  4. Integrate appropriate performance support resources to enable sustained application of learning on the job.

  5. Document and communicate learning impact using agreed behavioural and organisational indicators.
