What Is The Session About?
This curated session by the SIG on Internationalisation for Sustainability at the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) provides a strategic lens on entering the Indonesian market with a consulting mindset. Featuring a guest expert with direct experience in Indonesia, participants will gain insights into the local business culture, regulatory landscape, and emerging sustainability priorities.
Through a blend of dialogue, case insights, and practical guidance, the session aims to help Singapore-based adult educators position their offerings for strategic relevance and sustainable collaboration in Indonesia.

● Understand Market Entry Pathways: Learn key legal, structural, and partnership models for entering the Indonesian market.
● Adopt a Consulting Mindset: Frame adult education services as sustainable solutions for Indonesia’s talent, ESG, and development needs.
● Identify Sustainability Priorities: Recognise national initiatives in areas such as green economy, digital skilling, and inclusive education.
● Navigate Cultural and Business Norms: Gain awareness of Indonesian cultural nuances, communication styles, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
● Engage with Real-World Insights: Hear directly from a guest speaker with in-market experience on what works and what to avoid.

About The Speaker

Alvin Oh (Dr)
Alvin Oh specialises in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organisation Development and Talent Management. Dr Alvin Oh obtained his professor consulting credentials in UK and is a practice professor and management consultant with over 30 years in Human Capital & Leadership Development disciplines.
A former Head of L&D, OD and Talent Management at Linde Group, STATS chipPAC, Chartered Semicon, he was also the Deputy Director, overseeing talent management and training in NTU.
As an adjunct faculty at PaCE College@NTU, Dr Oh teaches the executive education program. He holds a Master’s Degree in Training and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education and specialises in training design, development and delivery for adult learning, andragogy and pedagogy. He also supervises research projects up to PhD level in HRM, HRD, Business and Organisational Leadership Development, and postgraduate thesis research methodology.

Gerald Ong Wen Shun (Mr)
With over five years of sales experience and a strong focus on sustainability. Gerald is a trained facilitator of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® by the Association of Master Trainers. He uses this method to foster creativity and problem-solving within teams. Through his company, Conscious Emergence Pte Ltd, Gerald also helps individuals with personal discovery through therapeutic photography.
With a proven track record and expertise in various disciplines, Gerald Ong is a valuable asset to those seeking innovative approaches to success in the digital age. He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing (Murdoch University).
