Co-creation session: How to Harvest the Strengths of Mature Employees for Greater Productivity

19 Nov 2026

2pm - 5pm

Institute for Adult Learning, Experiment Room

What is this session about?

Singapore’s workforce is ageing, and for most enterprises, that shift is already showing up on the org chart. Yet as businesses restructure, digitalise and adopt AI, the value sitting inside their most experienced employees frequently goes unexamined: deep institutional knowledge, judgment in non-routine situations, customer trust built over years, and quality standards that don’t need supervising.

The question isn’t whether mature employees have value. It’s whether the organisation has designed the work to capture it. This session treats mature-worker employment as a business design question, not a diversity conversation. Through strategic and tactical job redesign, enterprises can unlock measurable gains in productivity, continuity and workforce resilience, while keeping critical know-how in the building.

By the end of the session, participants will identify at least one practical opportunity to redesign work for greater productivity and workforce resilience, and leave with a concrete next step for their organisation.

Who should attend?

This session is designed for those with the authority and perspective to act on what emerges:

HR Heads & Leaders

HR, L&D, OD and workforce transformation leads

Business Decision-Makers

Owners, C-suite and senior leaders driving restructuring, digitalisation or manpower strategy

It is particularly relevant if your organisation is navigating transformation, facing manpower cost pressure, or at risk of losing critical operational knowledge.

What will we be doing?

This is a working session, not a seminar. Three hours, deliberately small, built for high-quality exchange.

1

Fireside conversation

Our panel seeds the business case, surfaces the real barriers, and explores what AI adoption means for experienced workers, followed by open Q&A.

2

Facilitated co-creation

In small groups, participants work through authentic case stories, realistic scenarios drawn from real enterprise situations, to diagnose where work is breaking down and redesign practical responses across roles, workflows, team structures, technology and learning support.

3

Close with commitment

Each participating enterprise walks away having named one concrete opportunity and one next action, with a clear pathway into follow-up support from IAL.

What makes this different from a typical seminar

Work with authentic case stories

Rather than abstract frameworks, tease out ideas, solutions and discussion pointers from situations that mirror what enterprises are actually facing.

Collaborate directly with IAL

Co-create new solutions and offerings designed specifically for mature workers, and help shape what IAL develops next in this space, alongside our researchers and workplace learning consultants.
