What Is This Session About?

Building upon your existing understanding of technology integration frameworks or a foundational introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), this one-day intensive course will equip you with the practical skills to create truly inclusive and engaging learning experiences. This course goes beyond theoretical understanding, focusing on the application of UDL principles within a technology-rich learning environment. Participants will delve into the core tenets of UDL, exploring how multiple means of representation, engagement, and action/expression can be strategically implemented to address the diverse needs of all learners. We will move beyond simply using technology for its own sake and instead focus on utilising it as a powerful tool to remove barriers to learning.

What Does The Session Cover?

This intermediate-level one-day course aims to empower educators to strategically integrate technology with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Participants will reinforce their understanding of UDL's core tenets and explore practical instructional strategies that offer multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/expression. The course emphasises hands-on application, guiding educators to utilise at least three different digital tools to enact UDL effectively. By the end of the day, participants will be able to design inclusive and learner-centered activities leveraging technology and critically evaluate their designs using an evidence-based rubric, fostering equitable access and participation for all learners. They will emerge with draft blueprints that they can adapt once they leave the course.

^ Assessment: Formative Assessment(s) (Assignments/Presentations/Practical Performances)

^ Completion: Upon 100% attendance and meeting Assessment requirement, learners will receive a Certificate of Participation from IAL (& other partners where applicable)
