What Is This Session About?

Many organisations invest heavily in training, yet still face challenges in translating learning into workplace performance. This intermediate-level programme equips adult educators and learning professionals with the capability to design more sophisticated SBL experiences that develop decision-making, not just knowledge acquisition.

Building on foundational concepts, participants learn how to create branching, workplace-relevant scenarios where learners actively make decisions and experience realistic consequences in a safe environment. This leads to stronger engagement, improved critical thinking, and more effective transfer of learning to the job.
Participants will develop a working scenario prototype tailored to their organisational context, enabling immediate application. For organisations, this means faster implementation of more impactful training interventions that better prepare employees for complex, real-world challenges. Unlike introductory SBL courses that focus on single-path scenarios, this programme equips participants to design multi-stage decisions with delayed and cascading consequences.

What Does The Session Cover?

This intermediate programme deepens participants’ capability to design scenario-based learning embedded within the flow of work, enabling capability development to occur alongside real tasks and decisions. Moving beyond standalone simulations, participants will learn how to structure branching, multi-stage decision pathways that reflect authentic workplace challenges and performance demands.

Building on foundational principles, the programme focuses on designing cascading consequences, realistic decision points, and complex scenarios that mirror how work unfolds. Emphasis is placed on translating organisational contexts, such as SOPs, operational workflows, and cross-functional interactions, into practice-based learning experiences that strengthen judgment, problem-solving, and execution.

Participants will engage in hands-on prototyping using accessible digital tools, including GenAI-enabled tools, to develop relevant, context-rich multimedia scenarios. Through guided activities, they will map decision trees, design interconnected consequences, and develop a playable scenario aligned to their professional context and performance outcomes.

The programme is designed for educators and learning professionals seeking to move beyond traditional training towards learning in the flow of work, where capability building is directly integrated into workplace practice, driving sustained performance and engagement.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Adult Educators with foundational SBL knowledge
  • Learning Designers developing blended or digital learning solutions
  • L&D professionals seeking to create immersive learning experiences
